The Andrew J. Carrico Scholarship Program
The Andrew J. Caricco Scholarship Program (AJCSP) honors the legacy of 1st Lieutenant Andrew J. Carrico, U.S. Army retired, through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded leader-athletes. AJCSP competitively awards two annual $1,000 scholarships (one male, one female) to the most outstanding high school senior athletes who demonstrate a keen interest in leadership, public service, entrepreneurial pursuits and educational growth.
Recipients may use the scholarships to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Andrew J. Carrico scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline. Apply now.
Who is Andrew J. Carrico?
1st Lieutenant Andrew J. Carrico, U.S. Army retired, is the grandfather and role-model of Jeremy C. Holm, founder of A Day of Champions. Lt. Carrico served as a paratrooper during World War II, one of the most elite forces in the United States Army at the time. During his service, Lt. Carrico fought in the South Pacific, including multiple jungle, street-fighting and beach assault campaigns, as well as one combat parachute jump.
Before he was wounded by machine-gun fire in March of 1945, Lt. Carrico earned multiple citations and awards, including two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.
In addition to his military service, Andrew J. Carrico was an avid athlete, playing golf and semi-professional baseball in his lifetime. As such, the Andrew J. Carrico Scholarship Program focuses heavily on leadership, service and inner-drive to determine which high school athletes will receive this distinguished award.
Andrew J. Carrico scholarships may be used to supplement benefits from the college or university a student plans to attend and from other foundations or organizations. Recipients may use the scholarship to cover the costs of tuition, fees, books, room and board, computers, health insurance, and other college-related expenses at an accredited four-year college or university within the United States. Andrew J. Carrico Scholarships may not displace financial aid awarded by the college. Apply now.
